When deteriorated historic windows are beyond reasonable repair, we build accurate replicas that match the original's dimensions, proportions, muntin profiles, rail and stile configurations, and lite arrangements. The result is a new window that reads as original to the building.
Replacement Window Sash
Existing historic window jambs and frames often remain structurally sound. In these cases, we replicate only the deteriorated sash — preserving the original frame while restoring the window's appearance and function with a precisely fitted replacement.
True Divided Lite Windows
Historically appropriate windows use true divided lites — individual panes of glass separated by solid wood muntins. We build true divided lite configurations that match original patterns, from simple two-over-two arrangements to complex multi-lite historic designs.

Materials & Methods
Built from Sapele. Built to Last.
Our custom replicas are built primarily from premium Sapele hardwood — a species prized by architectural woodworkers for its exceptional stability, natural durability, and resistance to the moisture and temperature cycles that challenge wood windows in Florida's climate.
Sapele's interlocking grain produces a surface that holds paint and finish exceptionally well, and its dimensional stability reduces the seasonal movement that causes historic wood windows to bind, stick, or fail over time.
Joinery follows traditional mortise-and-tenon construction — the same method used in the original windows. This time-tested approach produces strong, durable connections at the corners and rail-to-stile joints that hold their integrity for generations.
Why Historic Replicas
The Difference Between Replacement and Replication
Mass-produced vinyl and aluminum replacement windows are designed for new construction — standardized sizes, simplified profiles, and simulated divided lites that use a single pane of glass with a plastic grid overlay. They are efficient and economical for modern homes, but they are architecturally incompatible with historic buildings.
Historic buildings were designed around their windows. The proportions, muntin profiles, glass pane sizes, and lite configurations are integral to the building's architectural character. Replacing them with modern substitutes changes the building's appearance in ways that are difficult or impossible to reverse.
A historically accurate replica preserves that character. Built to match the original's dimensions and profiles, it maintains the building's architectural integrity — satisfying historic preservation standards, local historic district requirements, and the expectations of preservation-minded owners.
Traditional Construction
Mortise-and-Tenon Joinery
The mortise-and-tenon joint is the foundation of traditional window construction. A precisely cut tenon on the rail fits into a corresponding mortise in the stile, creating a mechanical connection that resists racking, twisting, and the stresses of seasonal wood movement.
This is the method used in the original windows — and it is the method we use today. No pocket screws, no biscuits, no shortcuts. The joinery is cut by hand and machine, fitted precisely, and assembled with care.
