Wood sash bears the full brunt of weather exposure: direct rain, UV, temperature cycling, and the mechanical wear of daily operation. The jamb, protected by the surrounding wall assembly, often survives in serviceable condition.
When this is the case, replacing only the deteriorated sash is both the most preservation-appropriate and most cost-effective approach. The original frame material is retained, the window opening requires no alteration, and the new sash is built to fit the existing jamb precisely — matching the original's dimensions, profiles, and lite configuration.

We begin with careful measurement of the existing jamb and any surviving original sash, documenting the dimensions, rail and stile profiles, muntin configurations, and glass pane sizes that define the window's appearance.
The completed sash is fitted to the existing jamb, maintaining the original window's operation — whether double-hung, single-hung, or fixed — and its visual character. The result is a replacement that reads as original to the building while providing the durability and weather performance of new construction.
